You are the Potter and We are the Clay
Isaiah 64:8-9
8 Yet, O LORD, you are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand. 9 Do not be angry beyond measure, O LORD; do not remember our sins forever. Oh, look upon us, we pray, for we are all your people.
I have not wished for anything too much in life but yes like any human being I too have certain wishes and dreams. But whenever I didn’t get something that I wished for so much I get very upset and emotional and out of that feeling I grumble and fight with the Lord saying, “ I didn’t ask for anything that is not possible for you, I just asked this small thing, Why did you not give me that, Do you not love me that you are not even granting me such a small wish, blah blah blah….”. But then who am I to question the Almighty? Was I given this life on earth by God cause I requested it? Am I a healthy human being having more than all the basic necessities of life cause I requested it to God? NO, God has given me all out of His own will. He has made me a Christian out of His will. He has given me loving parents out of His will. He has given me food and shelter out of His will. All that I have whether joy or sorrow its all out of His will and mercy. He knows what is right for me. He knows what is the purpose of my life and He has molded me according to His will.
Yes, WE ARE JUST THE CLAY and HE IS THE POTTER. Can you feel it? Can you feel how low we humans are in comparison with the Lord? When the potter shapes the clay, he shapes it as he likes and each shape will be to serve a different purpose. The same way the Lord when He shaped us in our mother’s womb He knew what we should be shaped like and what kind of purpose we should serve while in this world. And He did it wonderfully and marvelously. He has given us this life and each of our lives has a purpose. We should submit ourselves before this wonderful creator and should understand His purpose in our lives and ask God to help us fulfill that purpose. Then He will guide us along that path and help us in fulfilling that purpose.
If we are going through a life of darkness it may be because of our sins. So we should repent and turn to the Lord and seek His mercy. He can change our distress into rejoicing. Only we need to cry out to Him with a sincere heart. He is the master and we are His servants and still he has given us Citizenship in heaven as Phil 3:20 says, “But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.” And he has made us His children and heirs of His kingdom as in Romans 8:17,” Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.” If we suffer now we will rejoice in Heaven. God will never give us a burden that we cannot bare. If we are suffering He will give us the strength to bare it as well.
Let’s talk to the Lord –
O Lord, we come before you with reverence and complete submission. We thank you so much for being such a marvelous creator. Yes Lord we accept that You are the potter and that we are the clay. Let it be done unto us, as is your will. Lord we confess all our sins to you. Please have mercy on us and renew us. “Do not be angry beyond measure, O LORD; do not remember our sins forever. Oh, look upon us, we pray, for we are all your people. Isaiah 64:9”. Teach us to set our hearts and minds on things of above. Help us to truly and sincerely love you and your Words. Help us to hold onto your promises at times of difficulties. Tame our tongues Lord. Father, break us and mould us into useful vessels that serve your purpose. Thank you Father, we Praise your Holy Name. You mean more than the whole world to us. We love you and adore you. We worship you and sanctify your name. All this we pray in the precious name of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen!
